More Than Senior Pictures | A Family Portrait Experience at Epic in Downtown Columbus

Senior portraits are about celebrating an important milestone. But sometimes, the photographs that mean the most are the ones that include the people who have been part of the journey.

For this session, we brought together senior portraits, family photography, and an evening out in downtown Columbus, Georgia, at Epic Restaurant.

And the result was exactly the kind of portrait experience I love creating.

Senior Portraits With a Little More Style

One of my goals with senior photography has always been to create something beyond the traditional yearbook picture.

These young men looked sharp in their navy blazers, tailored trousers, and classic styling. The brick architecture and dramatic entryways surrounding Epic provided a sophisticated backdrop that complemented their wardrobe beautifully.

The result was a collection of portraits that felt confident, natural, and timeless.

Nothing overly complicated. Just great light, thoughtful composition, and photographs that reflect who they are at this stage of their lives.

Because Mom and Dad Deserve Great Pictures, Too

Something I always encourage during senior sessions is including family.

Parents spend years watching their children grow up, and senior year is one of those rare moments when everyone realizes just how quickly time has passed.

Why not take advantage of everyone being together, dressed beautifully, and enjoying a special evening?

We photographed Mom and Dad together, each parent with the boys, the entire family, and individual portraits of the young men.

And here's something important: Mom and Dad deserve to look just as good in these photographs as their children do.

That means paying attention to posing, flattering light, expression, and all the little details that make a portrait something you'll be proud to display.

These aren't simply extra pictures added to a senior session. They're family portraits worth having for years to come.

A Beautiful Evening in Downtown Columbus

One of the things I appreciate about photographing in downtown Columbus is the variety of architectural settings available.

Epic Restaurant offered a wonderful combination of brick, dark architectural details, and classic Southern character.

The setting worked particularly well with the family's coordinated wardrobe, giving the photographs a refined, almost editorial quality.

And incorporating portraits into an evening out made the occasion even more memorable.

Photographs That Become More Valuable With Time

Senior year goes by quickly.

Before long, schedules change, college begins, and getting everyone together for a family portrait becomes a little more difficult.

That's why I believe senior photography should be about more than documenting what a teenager looks like at 17 or 18.

It's an opportunity to photograph the relationships, personalities, and family connections that define this particular moment.

At John Pyle Photography, I approach senior and family portraits with the same attention to lighting, posing, styling, and detail that I bring to my professional and editorial portrait work.

Because great senior portraits celebrate the individual. Great family portraits preserve the people who helped them become who they are.

If you're planning senior portraits in Columbus, Georgia, I'd love to help create something meaningful for your senior—and your entire family.
